Welcome Back!

It’s been a long time coming, and we appreciate your patience. We’ve missed every single one of our players, parents, coaches, and referees. We hope that you all have missed us as much as we have missed you! It’s been a very long pandemic and it isn’t going anywhere soon. BUT! We’ve been cleared to play and play we will! We’re all excited to coach. Our players are excited to play! We’re all giddy to be back as a league!

SCSYSL 2021 Spring Registration

It’s been a long time coming!

Registration will open the weekend of February 19th and end no later than March 26th. Pricing as follows:

  • Scooter Shooters, U6: $100
  • U8, U10, U12, U14: $150

Price includes uniform and an 8 game Spring Season. The season is slated to start mid-April to Early May. Practices can begin as soon as the weather breaks and the fields are not too wet. Practice schedules will be up to the coach and are not decided on by the league.

Discounts…

In the fall, we announced that there would be a 10% discount for returning players. In order to receive your discount code, you will need to email Coach Dan. Dan will need your player’s name and the name of the Coach they last played for. Codes will be disbursed in the evening, after 6pm.

Covid–19

Covid has changed what we all consider to be normal. Soccer is no different. Masks are required by players and spectators alike. However, while not on the playing field, players may take a mask break while away from other players or spectators. During game play, players may take a “quick breather” while other players are not around. As a player myself, I feel this to be reasonable when the alternative is not playing at all. Along with the mask rule, we will require each coach to bring a ball to their games. The idea is to keep one ball sanitized while the other is in play. During throw-ins, the ball will be switched out and the out of bounds ball will be sanitized. Parents, your coach will need your help with this task. Please volunteer as needed by your player’s coach.

Refunds

Refunds will not be given after March 30th. There will be zero exceptions to this rule. We know this is inconvenient, but registration monies will be disbursed quickly for uniforms, city fees, insurance, and applicable state fees.

New Board of Directors Structure

Several changes have been made within the SCSYSL Board of Directors. First, Dan DeSantis has retired from the league. This came as a shock to most of us as he has been with the league for about 40 years. He’s taught a lot of us board members “the ropes” of running this league and set us straight when we strayed from the proper path. Dan has been our State Certified Referee Assignor for a very long time. He has also been Vice President and retired as our acting Vice President. He’s a good friend of ours and will surely be missed. We would like to thank him for all of his help and all of the years of service he put in with SCSYSL. We will be honoring him going forward by renaming our annual 3v3 Tournament, to the “Dan DeSantis 3v3 Tournament”. He will always be welcomed with open arms to all of our league events. Please make sure, if you see him, to thank him for all he has done for this league!

Aside from Dan’s retirement from the league, here is our current Board of Directors:

  • Christine Harris: League President, Co-Registrar
  • Daniel “DeeJ” Rothenberg: League Vice President, State Delegate, Director of Coaches & Scooter Shooters, Web Master
  • Melissa Rothenberg: League Secretary, Registrar
  • Gina Potts: League Treasurer
  • Mike Tavoularis: League Equipment Manager
  • Carrie Evatz: League Publicity Representative & Generous Sponsor
  • Ashley: (Soon to be) State Certified Referee Assignor

If you need to contact any of your Board of Directors, please head over to our Board of Directors page. Our contact information is listed there, as well as our positions.

We can’t wait to see everyone back on the fields! All the smiles, laughing, new memories…we’re all very excited! Please stay tuned as another email will be sent out with the exact date and time that registration will begin. If you don’t already, follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
